Type of Contribution

Identifies the contribution (role) of an individual, for example, as an author, editor, translator, etc.

Text, numbers, or special characters Word or phrase naming or describing the contribution.
Restriction: This attribute may be specified if the element is used.

Suggested usage

APA's preferred values for this attribute are

author

Primary creator of the article content. Use this value for <contrib>s that are contained within a <contrib-group> with a @content-type value of "primary-authors".

editor

A person who provided editorial oversight for the article, for example, the journal Editor, an action editor, or the editor of a special section or special issue. Use this value for <contrib>s that are contained within a <contrib-group> with a @content-type value of "journal-editors", "accepting-editors", "special-section-editors", "special-issue-editors", or "section-editors".

translator

A person who translated the article content. Use this value for <contrib>s that are contained within a <contrib-group> with a @content-type value of "translators".

Note. Rarely used in APA journal content.

collaborator

A person who assists in creating the article content but not at the level of primary authorship. Use this value for <contrib>s that are contained within a <contrib-group> with a @content-type value of "collaborators".
