The metadata for an article is information concerning the article, for example, bibliographic data such as authorship, article title, copyright year, and publication date; descriptive material such as keywords and abstracts; or any article identifying numbers. The article metadata is not part of the body text or graphics of the article proper, but serves to identify or describe the article.
The article metadata includes both metadata related to the article and any issue-related metadata.
